The example below is for our Nvidia laptop GPU for illustration purposes. Once in the utility, you’ll need to locate the display settings. What is universal between all brands is that you access these settings by right-clicking on the desktop and then selecting the Nvidia, AMD, or Intel utility from there. How you do this depends on the brand of GPU you have since the name of the GPU utility and its layout will differ. In some cases, you won’t see anything or just a “no signal” message.įor a secondary display, the easiest fix is to open your display settings and then change the resolution and refresh rate. If it fails to do this, the display should show an error message that an unsupported resolution or refresh rate was chosen. When you connect an HDMI display, your computer should automatically pick the correct resolution and refresh rate. Manually Choose a Supported Resolution and Refresh Rate If you can’t see anything on any screen, you can hold the Windows Key in and tap P repeatedly to cycle through the different modes. You can then use the mouse pointer to select your preferred mode. To quickly switch between these modes, hold the Windows Key + P. A discrete GPU will have the connector on the card itself, accessible through the tall rear slots on the back of the computer. The picture above is an example of a motherboard connection. If you have a discrete GPU installed, make sure to plug the HDMI cable into the card and not into the HDMI port on the motherboard.
Many desktop computers have integrated graphics available through an HDMI port on the motherboard itself. That will help determine which component is at fault.
To isolate the problem with your HDMI port not working, mix and match components in your connection with other devices to see if the issue is with the display, the computer, or the cable itself. It’s not particularly expensive to buy a DVI, VGA, or DisplayPort to HDMI adapter these days. Seems like it was from the displayport cable.I've bought new one and works perfectly fine.If your display only has an HDMI input, you can use an adapter. Go into minitor settings on the actual monitor, look for refresh rate when its on display port, make sure its all set up to match your settings on HDMI. Is the monitor set to max refresh rate and etc in its settings? The only time you should get no signal is if the cable is bad, or if the signal being sent to the minitor is out of bounds - like trying to display a resolution that isnt compatiable, or trying to display a refresh rate that is too high. Never had an issue across multiple different monitors and video cards. Have you tried running both hdmi and displayport cable to the monitor at the same time? Can you try to see what resolution and refresh rate it is trying to send over the display port? Do you have a 2nd cable to try? Sounds odd.On its face, it would suggest the cable is the problem. I tried exactly as you said but once the driver is installed I get "Displayport no signal"

nothing worked.Īfter a while i tried to uninstall nvidia drivers while the displayport is plugged in and see if it is from that (i did this by unplugging HDMI cable after pressing of the uninstall button) and i've seen that displayport was working with nvidia drivers uninstalled.ĭoes anybody have any idea how to fix this? I tried some tricks from the internet like unplugging the Displayport and plugging back.unplugging PSU etc. I saw that it booted into windows but no display.

When I plugged in and started the PC I've seen only ASUS logo from the Motherboard and after that Black Screen and error from Monitor "Displayport no signal" So I bought a good quality Displayport Cable from Hama 1.2. The Monitor came with an HDMI cable which is working fine (144hz are working fine etc.)īut I saw on the internet that Monitor supports G-SYNC (even if has Freesync) but only if is connected with an Displayport cable.
I recently made a new Desktop PC and bought ASUS VG249Q Monitor.
